Haikus by Gary Picard

                                                                        country ice cream stand

by the tide pool                                                cracked pavement  weeds growing through

crusted  marsh grass rattles  dry                       smell of summer dusk

 in the arid wind

murky waters brown

lifeless still the stagnant sound

carp beseeching help                                          humbly begs

                                                                           the bumblebee

                                                                        perched on a buttercup

chopping firewood                                          black clouds pale blue sky

October cools settles in                                hanging heavy   the cold air

stew in the crockpot                                           grey chimney smoke floats
