“Listen and Move To The Rhythm” – Poem by James Maloney

Listen to the sounds

the sounds all around

the music of the streets

with their city beats

the voices of many

the sounds are a plenty

Listen and move to the rhythm

Dance with a partner

Or start alone

But move

So smooth

And feel the grove

That feels so true

Listen and move to the rhythm

Don’t be shy

To do your glides

and slide from side to side

to get down low

or jump up high

Listen and move to the rhythm

Feel the beats

And stomp your feet

Spin and twirl

You guys and girls

Feel the flow

Get up and go

Listen and move to the rhythm

  1. James writes…
“I’m an HCC student, and as many know I love to write. In writing this piece I sat at my computer and was listening to someone else’s music playlist from some site and so the flow and rhythm of the piece came through. It was also, I believe, the first poem I wrote that had repetition in a chorus sense I guess… Anyway I hope it is well received.”
